In this particular surrealist film, all explosions result in the blooming of red flowers. At some point, the protagonist cuts off his thumb, only to discover that it is a hard boiled egg....:)
He was one of Tarkovsky's favorite directors. Belle de jour seems to be timelessly in fashion...with film people (although I doubt Tarkovsky was a fan of it).
The only other film of his I've seen is 'Land without Bread.' In homage, I was thinking of having a scene with a falling animal for this particular surrealist movie, but decided against it :/
